Duke Finalizing Matchup Against Notable Sweet 16 Team

The Duke Blue Devils are coming off a bittersweet ending to an otherwise standout season.

They finished 35-4, won both the ACC regular season and Tournament titles, and had the National Player of the Year in Cooper Flagg. They even made it to the Final Four — but let a 14-point lead slip away against the Houston Cougars, falling short of playing for a national championship.

Still, with the way things ended, head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff have no choice to shift their focus to next season already.

The Blue Devils have been busy working to solidify their roster and schedule. With Cooper Flagg and guard Kon Knueppel heading to the NBA, Scheyer locked in the return of Isaiah Evans and Maliq Brown for another year.

According to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, Duke is also finalizing an agreement to face the Big Ten Tournament champion Michigan Wolverines in a neutral-site game at Capital One Arena in Washington D.C., scheduled for February 2026.

Duke and Michigan last met during the 2013–14 season at Cameron Indoor Stadium, where the Blue Devils came out on top, 79–69. The Blue Devils have the upper hand in the all-time series, leading the Wolverines 21–7.

Michigan, meanwhile, is coming off a strong first season under new head coach Dusty May. After winning just eight games in 2023-24, May turned things around quickly, guiding the Wolverines to 27 wins, a Big Ten Tournament title, and a run to the Sweet 16, where they eventually fell to Auburn.
