Oregon Center Announces NBA Draft Decision

Unfortunately for the Oregon Ducks, their season ended at the hands of a familiar foe: the Arizona Wildcats.

Former Pac-12 rivals, Oregon, fell by just four in the second round of the NCAA Tournament after an 81-52 blowout against Liberty.

The Ducks notched some impressive wins in their non-conference schedule, particularly against Alabama and Texas A&M.

Oregon's first year in the Big Ten proved to be tough. They started 4-2 in conference play, but dropped six of the next seven.

However, they were able to right the ship and won their next seven games in a row, including a road win at Wisconsin in overtime before heading into the Big Ten Tournament.

Oregon center makes decision on future

The Ducks were led by center Nate Bittle this season with 14.2 points per game.

Bittle also led the team in rebounding with 7.6 per game and blocks with 2.1 per game.

This was a big jump for Bittle. He played in only five games in 2023-24 as a junior after an injury to his left wrist required surgery.

On Monday, Bittle took the first step toward his possible future by declaring for the NBA Draft.

An Oregon native, Bittle mentioned what a dream it was to play college basketball in Eugene.

"Every day I play basketball at Oregon, I live my childhood dream," wrote Bittle. "Though the best part of playing at Oregon no kid could ever imagine: The University of Oregon community and the die-hard Duck fans. They are what makes this place truly special for me and I want to express my deepest gratitude. Thank you!!"

Some mock drafts have Bittle ranked toward the end of the second round if he decides to stay on that route.

"After speaking with Coach [Dana] Altman and my parents, I am fortunate to have the opportunity to pursue another childhood dream of one day playing in the NBA," wrote Bittle. "Today, I am declaring for the 2025 NBA Draft while maintaining my college eligibility."

Bittle still has a year of eligibility after being given an additional year after the wrist surgery his junior season.

If he doesn't get the buzz from scouts in the draft process, the Third-team All-Big Ten member could return to Eugene to run it back one more time.
