SMU would need to come at him with a STRONG-A$$ OFFER. https://t.co/GMJpw8Jbgn
Jankovich began his head coaching career at North Texas ahead of the 1993-1994 campaign and stayed with the Mean Green for four seasons, compiling a 53-57 record. His next lead gig was for five seasons at Illinois State from 2007 to 2012, a stretch in which he led the team to a four winning seasons and a 104-64 mark.
Jankovich went 9-0 in his first stretch with SMU as an interim head coach in 2015-2016 while basketball legend Larry Brown was suspended. Jankovich took over as the official head coach in 2016-2017, a season in which the team was ranked as good as 11th in the nation, posted a 30-5 record, won both the regular-season and conference tournament title, and made the NCAA Tournament.
In seven years with SMU, Jankovich registered a 125-64 record. He holds a career coaching record of 282-185.
"It has been an honor and a privilege to have coached at SMU for the past ten years," the coach said, per SMU. "I am grateful to Dr. Turner and Rick Hart for their support and leadership. I am also grateful to all the outstanding players, coaches, managers and support staff I have had the opportunity to work with along the way."
