Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide have been cleaning up on the recruiting trail seemingly since the dawn of time.
Dylan Lonergan, four-star quarterback from Snellville, Georgia, is just the next on the long list of recruiting wins Alabama football has boasted over the years. His commitment to the university is actually good news for Alabama baseball as well, though.
A first baseman and right-handed pitcher on the diamond, Lonergan intends to play baseball as well for the Crimson Tide.
"I'd say it's the biggest factor for me," Lonergan told ESPN regarding the ability to play both sports. "If I can't play both, I'm definitely not going to that school."
Alabama offered Lonergan the opportunity to both play football and baseball, and that helped the Crimson Tide secure his commitment over the likes of South Carolina and Stanford.
Though he is skilled on the diamond, Lonergan is a top quarterback recruit. ESPN ranks him as the No. 6 2023 quarterback in the nation. The 247Sports Composite rankings has Lonergan as the No. 9 quarterback nationally.
That's a big haul for a Crimson Tide class that already boasts a notable quarterback commitment from four-star Eli Holstein.
