Roughly 48 hours after losing the ReliaQuest Bowl, Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe revealed that he's leaving Tuscaloosa.
Milroe, a junior quarterback from Texas, announced on Instagram that he's declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft. Many fans expected him to go pro after this season, but there were some people holding out hope that he'd return to Alabama for one last shot at a national championship.
"Football has always been my passion, and since I was a kid, I dreamed of competing at the highest level. Through every win, every tough loss, and any criticism along the way, my love and dedication to this game has never wavered," Milroe said. "Each day, my gratitude for the opportunity to play this sport I love only grows stronger.
"With that said, I am declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft. Roll Tide forever!"
Milroe will finish his Alabama career with 6,016 passing yards, 45 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. The dual-threat quarterback also had 1,577 yards and 33 scores on the ground.
There's no doubt Milroe has work to do in order to become a franchise quarterback, but his potential is undeniable.
If we had to guess, there are at least a few teams out there willing to take a chance on Milroe because of his raw talent.
Unfortunately, Milroe's production took a hit without Nick Saban as his coach. In 2023, he completed 65.8 percent of his passes for 2,834 yards with 23 touchdowns and six interceptions. With Kalen DeBoer at the helm, he had 16 touchdown passes as opposed to 11 interceptions.
In his final college game, Milroe had 192 passing yards, a touchdown and an interception in a 19-13 loss to Michigan.
Alabama fans will be cheering Milroe on next NFL season. As for where he'll end up, your guess is just as good as ours.
