The spring semester is underway at Arizona State as of Monday. If you thought ASU head football coach Kenny Dillingham had already loaded up for the spring, sit back and relax: he was just getting started.
The Sun Devils added three commitments on Sunday spread between their offensive and defensive lines. When it didn’t look like ASU could do anything bigger, the Sun Devils popped out with two more commitments out of the B1G and SEC.
Former Purdue redshirt junior Nyland Green and former Alabama redshirt freshman wide receiver committed to Arizona State on Monday.

The pair become the 10th and 11th winter transfer commitments for ASU. In their respective classes, both were regarded as two of the best high school football players in the country.
Green was ranked as the No. 2 corner back in the country in the Class of 2020 before signing to Georgia, according to 247sports composite rankings. He spent four seasons with the Bulldogs, compiling 13 total tackles and two pass deflections before transferring to Purdue after the 2023 season. In his lone year as a Boilermaker this past season, the redshirt junior tallied 23 tackles, five pass deflections, two sacks and a forced fumble.

Hamilton was a top 300 recruit in the Class of 2023, signing to Bama as a four-star prospect. The wide receiver recorded no catches for Alabama in his two seasons.
Both players add value to their respective position groups in different ways.
ASU lost five defensive backs to the transfer portal this winter (three safeties, two corner backs). Arizona State took big hits losing redshirt sophomore safety Kamari Wilson (Memphis) and a versatile defensive back in sophomore Cole Martin (UCLA), but bounced back by signing former Washington State redshirt freshman Adrian “Boogie” Wilson. Wilson recorded 47 tackles, three pass deflections and forced a fumble for the Cougars this season.
Arizona State suffered a potentially detrimental loss in junior cornerback Laterrance “LT” Welch, who was forced to leave the team after violating team rules and getting into legal trouble prior to the Sun Devils’ Big 12 Championship win over Iowa State. Green, who has played useful minutes over the last four seasons in the B1g and SEC, presents himself as an even exchange.
The Sun Devils lost four redshirt freshmen wide receivers to the transfer portal and a tight end to the school he initially came from in redshirt junior Markeston Douglas (Florida State), but that was all to make room for its incredible haul of receivers during the winter window.
The Sun Angel Collective reportedly inked redshirt freshman quarterback Sam Leavitt to a new deal. With an On3 NIL valuation of $3 million, Dillingham and ASU has made sure that QB1 has everything he needs and then some going forward.
Arizona State will be welcoming back Leavitt’s favorite target, redshirt sophomore Jordyn Tyson, who missed the Sun Devils’ postseason run due to injury. While Leavitt is chomping at the bits to get back on the field with his No. 1 receiver, the dynamic duo will need some help to take the pressure off.
Hamilton became ASU’s third wide receiver signing out of the portal, joining former Fresno State redshirt sophomore Jalen Moss and former Clemson redshirt freshman Noble Johnson. Moss is one of the top returning receivers in all of college football, recording 1,269 yards and 10 touchdowns off 103 catches. Johnson, like Hamilton, has very little in-game reps, bringing in just three receptions for 16 yards for the Tigers in 2024. Regardless of their inexperience, its hard to not be excited about athletes coming out of the ACC and SEC.
With his most recent commitments, Dillingham is proving once again that he is one of the most dangerous coaches in college football wants he gets in the portal.
