Big 12 Quarterback Recruit Earns Fifth Star

Keisean Henderson is one of the best quarterback prospects in the 2026 class and is committed to playing for Willie Fritz and the Houston Cougars.

Previously a four-star recruit out of Spring, Texas, Henderson got a massive bump in the recruiting rankings this week, earning a coveted fifth-star, something few athletes ever achieve.

As of Friday morning, Henderson is the No. 5 overall player, No. 2 quarterback prospect, and No. 1 player in the state of Texas, according to 247Sports.

Check out the breakdown that 247Sports’ Hudson Standish provides on the Coogs’ top prospect for 2026.

“The MVP of the All-American Bowl and somebody that has a chance to be a program-changing addition for the Houston Cougars,” Standish says. “This is a dynamic athlete who is wired like few others are at this stage in the evaluation process. He originally played wide receiver and defensive back on the 7-on-7 circuit, knew that he wanted to stay at quarterback. Really has had incredible development just from the personal skillset standpoint and moves from the No. 1 athlete in our rankings to the No. 2 QB and the No. 5 overall player because he has an innate ability to create chunk plays with his arm or his legs on the move.”

Henderson committed to Houston in May of last year and has stuck to that commitment despite receiving offers from pretty much every notable program in college football.

If Willie Fritz and company can hang on to his commitment until National Signing Day, there’s no doubt that it could change the entire trajectory of that program in the course of a single recruiting cycle.
