Quarterback Bryce Underwood is a young man with very strong character and if you weren't sure of that before, his most recent actions should convince you.

In a recent video from Underwood's Belleville High School, the 2025 five-star quarterback invited school security guard Mych Darty for an "interview." But when Underwood showed up, he had a big surprise for Darty.

Underwood gifted Darty a new car - a Chevrolet Equinox.

“Man, I love you,” Darty told him after getting the car.

Underwood explained that the two of them met right before he started attending Belleville. He said that Darty became something of a mentor to him on non-football things and praised him for how "genuine" he was.

“I liked how he approached things,” Underwood said. “He came off as a genuine person. He wanted to talk to me and pick my brain.”

“This was before I had ever seen him throw a football,” Darty said. “He had a good head on his shoulders and from there our relationship grew.”

Darty did not even know that Underwood was a football player, so the connection was more solid to the five-star signal-caller.

“Always someone can like you because of what you can do for them or what you do as person,” Underwood said. “Him not even knowing who I am, it was a big thing to me.”

Darty said he was "completely shocked" by the gift and declared that Underwood has a great future ahead of him.

“I was shocked, completely shocked,” Darty said. “You never do things to be rewarded with things like this. Seeing Bryce go to the next level, that’s the reward. But something like this, it takes it to the next level. This is a story I will always talk about.”

Underwood is set to join the Michigan Wolverines football program in the fall.
