Deion Sanders’ son has been snubbed by the NFL Combine. And no, it’s not that son.
The NFL on Thursday released the full list of players who have been invited to participate in the annual scouting combine in Indianapolis. 329 players were invited in total. Shedeur Sanders, who is expected to be among the top picks in the draft, was one of the 15 quarterback prospects who were invited.
There were 56 defensive backs invited to participate, but Shilo Sanders was not one of them. Shilo is Deion Sanders’ second-eldest son.
Shilo is a safety who began his college career with South Carolina in 2019, then followed his father to Jackson State in 2021, and then transferred to Colorado in 2023. The 25-year-old had 67 tackles, one sack, two fumble recoveries and two passes defended in the 2024 season with the Buffaloes.
Shilo participated in the East-West Shrine Bowl last month, where he received mixed reviews. There was one video of him getting burnt in coverage that went viral.
The say Shilo Sanders been out there gettin fried at the East-West Shrine practices. This is the other side of sports on social media. One bad practice can get turned into a damaging narrative.

I've said before that Shilo ain't an NFL player to me. No hate – I don't see it. He… pic.twitter.com/VW0B8SULJu
Although that video reflected poorly upon Sanders, it should be reminded that he is a safety and not a cornerback, so lining up 1-on-1 against top receivers is not expected to be his specialty. He did show off some good tackling ability in the actual game.

Just because Shilo was not invited to the NFL scouting combine does not mean he will not be drafted. He could be a late-round pick by some team. There is also the possibility that whomever selects Shedeur will do Deion and the Sanders family proud by also drafting Shilo. At minimum, he figures to get a look as an undrafted free agent.
