Following Alabama’s week one defeat to Florida State, the extremist consensus was to first leave Kalen DeBoer on the tarmac and second, replace Ty Simpson at quarterback.
But after the turmoil in Tallahassee, Simpson has been stellar in his previous two starts passing for 608 yards, 7 touchdowns, no interceptions and completing 91.4% of his passes.
Since his previous two performances, Simpsons critics have hushed but former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron isn’t letting the group of fans off the hook. McCarron sounded off on the fans who jumped off the Simpson bandwagon during the latest episode of “The Dynasty” podcast.
“Some of those watching the show have to jump back on the bandwagon. … It’s funny that fans wanted to get on Ty and say he didn’t play great in the first game,” McCarron said. “‘It was his fault.’ Blah, blah, blah. A lot of crickets out there right now. I said be patient with him. He’s going to be fine.”

Despite his recent successes, Simpson will face his biggest challenge of the season next weekend when Alabama travels to Athens to take on Georgia.
