The 2025 NFL Draft does not feature a great wide receiver class. After several consecutive draft classes loaded at the position, teams will have to work a little harder to find a franchise-caliber player at receiver. TCU’s Jack Bech is a prospect whose draft stock exploded at the Senior Bowl and is now expected to be one of the first 8-10 wide receivers off the board.

Jack Bech Background

TCU Horned Frogs wide receiver Jack Bech enters the 2025 NFL Draft with loads of experience against high-level competition. Bech began his collegiate career at LSU, where he racked up 59 receptions and four touchdowns in 25 games over two seasons for the Tigers. Prior to his junior season, Bech transferred to TCU. After a quiet first year with the Horned Frogs, Bech exploded in his senior season, totaling over 1,000 receiving yards and nine touchdowns en route to a second-team All-Big 12 selection.

Strengths

One of Jack Bech’s biggest selling points as he transitions to the NFL is his physicality. He has the necessary strength and aggressiveness to handle the more physical nature of NFL cornerbacks. Whether it’s coming down with contested catches, breaking tackles, or getting dirty and blocking in the run game, Bech is physically ready for life in the NFL. He’s not overly tall, but his frame is filled out well at 214 pounds, and it is apparent when watching him play.

Another major strength of Bech’s is his versatility. He is capable of lining up in the slot or at the boundary. In the slot, Bech’s size and ability to find openings in zone coverage will prove valuable. Outside, Bech’s contested catch abilities on deep balls will really shine. And arguably Bech’s biggest strength is his sure-handedness. He simply will not drop passes very often. While he’s not a complete prospect, his physicality, positional versatility, and reliability give Jack Bech both a high floor and a high ceiling.

Weaknesses

While he has a lot working in his favor, Bech has a couple of drawbacks as a prospect, too. The first and biggest characteristic working against Bech is his lack of high-end athleticism. Both his straight-line speed and short area quickness are areas that need improvement. When you think of top wide receivers in the NFL, you think of players with lightning-fast feet who can be off the ball and past their defender in the snap of a finger. Bech doesn’t have that level of fast-twitch explosiveness.

The other major weakness of Bech is his unrefined route running. On one hand, it’s great that he is so adept at securing contested catches. But on the other hand, it’s not great that he needs to rely on contested catches because he can’t consistently get open. While all signs point to him being ready for the NFL’s physicality, if he can’t adjust right away, he will struggle to find ways to produce. He just doesn’t have the quick feet and sharp routes to win when he can’t out-physical his defender.

Potential Team Fits

Jack Bech NFL Projection

Expect Jack Bech to be drafted on Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft. While he doesn’t have as high of a ceiling as some of the top receivers in the class, Bech has a high floor. He probably won’t ever be a WR1 in a good offense, but it’s easy to envision Bech enjoying a long career as a solid, sure-handed second or third option. His ability to play outside or in the slot will be appealing to NFL teams. And by all accounts, Bech seems to be a mature young player who would be a great addition in the locker room.
