Outside of the Tennessee Titans selecting Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick, nobody can say for sure how the 2025 NFL Draft will unfold. Ole Miss' Jaxson Dart and Colorado's Shedeur Sanders are expected to be the next young signal-callers off the board, but there is no consensus on where either will land.
Comparing the two quarterbacks during the pre-draft process has been a fool's errand considering the different styles of play that the two players employ. Sanders is more of a true pocket passer, and Dart demonstrated last year that he has legitimate dual-threat ability.
While these players are constantly pitted against each other and their fates are somewhat intertwined in the NFL Draft, the two are actually great friends. Dart recently appeared on the Up & Adams show with Kay Adams and opened up about his relationship with Sanders.
"You know what's funny is he called me like two hours ago," Dart said. "He was at Jackson State, so I was just down the road in Oxford. ... We've also had little opportunities, like we both did the 'Road to the Draft' with Overtime, and being able to spend time like that. Obviously, we're competitors and whatnot, but at the same time, when we get off the field, we can be normal people."
Come Thursday night, the two will be competing once again to be the second quarterback taken behind Ward, but it will be a civil competition, according to Dart. When Sanders and Dart are inevitably franchise players in the coming years, this budding rivalry and friendship will be exciting to watch on Sundays.
