Michael Penix Jr.’s decision to transfer to Washington and play for Kalen DeBoer, his former offensive coordinator at Indiana, has worked out pretty well. The quarterback not only led the nation in passing yards during the regular season, but also delivered a first-half winner when we backed him. Penix has announced that he will return for another season in Seattle, and a favorite target who recently did the same is worthy of our top prop:
The bet: Over 71½ receiving yards for Washington wide receiver Jalen McMillan (DraftKings)
A third-year sophomore, McMillan burst onto the scene in last season’s 52-3 rout of Arkansas State, catching 10 passes for 175 yards and a touchdown. But it’s his connection with Penix that has elevated the draft stock of both players as the Huskies prepare to take on Texas in the Alamo Bowl.
McMillan has been Washington’s most consistent receiver this season, averaging 87 yards per game and catching at least four passes in each of them. He has cleared this number eight times, including in five of the last six games. The capper was a season-high 150-yard effort against rival Washington State in the Apple Cup, with exactly half of his total coming on a long touchdown reception.
The Texas pass defense ranks 90th in the country, surrendering 239 yards per game. On the fast track of the Alamodome, it will struggle to hold the fort against Penix and McMillan.
