Marcus Freeman Updates Blue-Gold Football Injuries

Just a handful of players missed Saturday’s Notre Dame football Blue-Gold game with injuries that weren’t known in advance of the game. As expected, Fighting Irish running back Jeremiyah Love’s hamstring injury that he suffered in practice a week ago kept him out of the game. Love watched the game from the sidelines an did an in-house stadium interview afterwards, but three other players had new injuries that held them out of action on Saturday.

Defensive end Loghan Thomas was one of the three. “He pulled his hamstring,” Irish head coach Marcus Freeman said after the game. Thomas played in all 16 games as a true freshman last season.

Two other defensive players missed Saturday’s action as well. “Teddy (Rezac) was an ankle sprain,” Freeman explained. “He sprained his ankle the other day in practice.” The linebacker from Omaha, Neb played in eight games, predominantly on special teams, as a freshman in 2024.

Rising junior Brenan Vernan was also out with a minor injury. “Brenan Vernon, knee sprain,” Freeman remarked. “He had a knee sprain actually Wednesday in practice. So had to keep those guys out.” Vernan played in two games last season after playing in two games in 2023 as well.

Notre Dame’s Blue-Gold Game traditionally ends the spring practice season, but Freeman said after the game that the team will practice three more times before this spring’s practice activities conclude.
