The Ohio State Buckeyes are in the early stage of a quarterback competition for the 2025 college football season. Head coach Ryan Day along with the Buckeyes coaching staff are already working on finding the potential quarterback for the future.
Cass Tech quarterback Donald Tabron II was named to the All-American freshman second team list in Jan., along with six others. Despite just beginning his high school career, he has already drawn interest from major programs, including Penn State and Michigan.
Now, the 2024 national champion Ohio State is also being linked to the young quarterback.
According to Mick Walker from On3, Tabron checked out the Buckeyes on Thursday at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. If he commits to Ohio State, he will be playing alongside Brady Edmunds, a five-star quarterback from the class of 2027 who is already an early Buckeyes commit.
Talking about his Penn State visit to Steve Wiltfong from On3, the 6'3 QB said:
"For me, the highlight of this Penn State visit was really deepening the relationship, and getting to know the campus beyond the stadium and football facility."
Tabron also visited Maryland, after which he expressed gratitude on social media towards the program and its management:
"I enjoy being a sponge around great football minds. @TerpsFootball has two of the best! OC Pep Hamilton and QB coach Ted White are a pleasure to learn from," Tabron detailed in a message on X on Wednesday. "Great conversation as always with Coach Locks. Good to be back. Appreciate @CoachThomas_14 for the love as always."
The 2028 class in the state of Michigan is talented ‼️

Tabron is part of an extensive list of top recruits who visited Ohio State on Thursday. The group was headlined by a trio of four-star prospects in the 2026 class, per Walker: Favour Akih, James Monroe and Messiah Hampton.
Tabron has plenty of time to make a decision, but the Buckeyes already have a lot of competition to land the quarterback, including Michigan.
