Oklahoma Earns Pledge from Transfer Tight End

On Monday morning, Oklahoma landed a commitment from another playmaker out of the transfer portal.

Bauer Sharp, a 6-foot-5, 245-pound tight end transfer from Southeastern Louisiana, announced on Monday that he will transfer to OU after spending three seasons with the Lions.

Hailing from Dothan, AL, Sharp began his career at SLU as a quarterback before making the switch to tight end prior to his redshirt freshman season. In 2023, Sharp tallied 133 rushing yards and five touchdowns in addition to 29 catches for 288 yards and three touchdowns.

According to PFF, Sharp was the third-highest graded FCS tight end this year. The high school quarterback was also named an FCS Third-Team All-American for his efforts as a redshirt sophomore.

Sharp heading to Norman is a huge addition for the Sooners, as their entire tight end room was a non-factor in the 2023 season. With OU's starting tight end, Austin Stogner, finishing his college career after this season, Seth Littrell and Joe Jon FInley desparatly needed to add a playmaker with experience to the team's tight end group as Oklahoma transitions into the SEC.

Behind Stogner, Blake Smith is the only veteran tight end on the roster, but the former Baylor transfer did not have a big impact during his first year in Norman. Kade McIntyre, Kaden Helms and Josh Fanuiel are also on the roster, but don't have enough experience to be the team's answer at tight end during OU's first year in the SEC.
