Omarr Norman-Lott is one of the most explosive interior defensive linemen in this year’s draft class, and his scouting report evaluates if he has the skill set to become a quality NFL player.
Height- 6’2″
Weight- 291 lbs
Norman-Lott attended Grant Union High School in California where he was a three-star recruit. He committed to Arizona State and played in one game as a true freshman. Norman-Lott made his first career start in 2021 and racked up 30 total tackles on the season. He transferred to Tennessee in 2023 and played in 10 games with two starts, recording a career-high 5.5 sacks. As a senior he recorded four sacks and helped the Vols become a top-10 scoring defense in the country.
The thing that jumps out most when watching Norman-Lott is how explosive he is. Norman-Lott is a good athlete, with an explosive first step. He moves well and has solid lateral quickness. Norman-Lott plays with a relentless motor and gives high effort to get into the backfield and make a play on every play. He has massive hands, the biggest of any defensive lineman in this year’s draft class, with great grip strength, and active, violent hand usage.
Norman-Lott rushes with low pad level and has consistently good leverage. As a pass rusher, he converts speed to power well. Extremely consistent and productive as a pass rusher with 9.5 sacks over the last two seasons. His 18.9% pass rush win rate in 2024 was the highest pass rush win rate of any defensive tackle in 2024, according to PFF.
Norman-Lott is an undersized defensive tackle standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 291 pounds, both under the 20th percentile for the position. Many of Norman-Lott’s concerns come from his size and run defense. With Tennessee’s heavy rotation of defensive linemen Norman-Lott rarely even got snaps against the run in college. He had just 86 run defense snaps in both 2024 and 2023, and 78 in 2022. In his limited snaps against the run, Norman-Lott showed some play strength concerns against the run. He can struggle against more powerful offensive linemen in the run game and is not great against double teams.
Norman-Lott not only has limited run defense snaps but has limited experience overall, especially for an older 23-year-old prospect. He started in five games during his five-year college career and had less than 500 total snaps over his last two seasons with Tennessee. He also struggled with missed tackles throughout his college career.
Norman-Lott is an intriguing NFL prospect. His explosiveness and pass rushing ability are among the best in the entire draft class at his position. However, he is an older prospect with limited experience, especially against the run. He can be an excellent rotational pass rusher for an NFL team that is extremely effective on stunts and twists early in his career. He will need to develop a lot as a run defender, to become a great every-down defensive lineman, but he has a ton of upside if he is able to grow as a run defender.
