For those who closely follow the 2025 NFL Draft class, Arizona cornerback Tacario Davis has been a prominent member in the backend of first round mock drafts. While the media is very high on Davis, the NFL has been a little more mixed on him. According to various sources, grades have tended to be more of the Day Two (Rounds 2-3) variety.
While most expected Davis to be a part of the 2025 class, it appears that is unlikely at this time. According to a very trusted source close to Davis, the most likely decision right now is to return to school for the 2025 college football season. If he does return, Davis would also likely explore Transfer Portal options that are out there.
The anticipation is that Davis would be a hot commodity in the portal, and would also demand a healthy price tag. College teams can never have enough quality cover men, especially to the talent level of Davis.
At 6-4 and 190 pounds, you won’t find many cornerbacks this height or length across college football. Davis is also an impressive mover, having solid long speed, but outstanding change of direction skills for his height. This allows Davis to match up well against a variety of different types of wide receivers.
During the course of his Arizona career, Davis has recorded 71 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one interception, and 23 pass breakups. He has been having a slightly down year in 2024, but was amongst the best in college football as a sophomore in 2023. Davis ended that season with his lone interception and 16 pass breakups, both career highs.
If Davis does return, he likely will be one of the early favorites at the top of the 2026 NFL Draft at cornerback. The talent is tremendous with Davis, but the next step is consistency. Keeping close tabs on where he lands for the 2025 season will be something to monitor closely for college football fans, and draftniks alike.
