Strengths

• Size: Standing at a whopping 6'7, 342 pounds, Hollin Pierce is a behemoth of a man on the football field. It's easy to envision teams falling for him off of his frame alone. Pierce has also put time into retraining his body over his collegiate career, as he reportedly once weighed in as heavy as 450 pounds. 

• Length: At the East-West Shrine Bowl, Hollin Pierce measured in with a whopping 36 5/8-inch arm length. For reference, that is the 99th percentile all-time for an offensive tackle. 

• Versatility: Pierce has double-digit starts and encouraging development at both right and left tackle in his college career. 

Weaknesses

• Athleticism: Hollin Pierce is a poor overall athlete on film, with poor change of direction and fluidity in his profile and poor ability when climbing to the second level. His lumbering style of play puts him in poor position against speed and bend rushers around the edge and he struggles to nail targets out in space. 

• Technique: Pierce has plenty of tools to work with, but despite his experience, he doesn't know how to use them yet. His strike timing is inconsistently synced with his feet and his hands aren't consistently accurate either. 

• Inconsistent power: It's frustrating watching Pierce's power come and go on film. On some reps, he simply overwhelms defenders on run blocks with tremendous lower-body strength. However, that power doesn't translate to his strikes, and his upright playing style negates what could be an elite anchor. 

Player Evaluation

Hollin Pierce is a difficult evaluation. He certainly looks the part with his size and frame, but his limitations and raw technique put him squarely in the developmental category. 

There will be a team that will take a swing on him and see if they can unlock his power, but his limitations seemingly make him a lock purely for Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Zach Banner (Indianapolis Colts)

Zach Banner and Hollin Pierce have nearly identical profiles in terms of size, length, and play style. Much like Pierce, Banner played both left and right tackle in college at his massive size and have tremendous power in the run game. However, Banner's concerns against speed echo similarly to Pierce's.
