In a surprise announcement, veteran Boise State linebacker Andrew Simpson announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal. Coming off an All-American season, according to the College Football Network, the California native is sure to be busy.

Over the last two seasons with the Broncos, Simpson totaled 112 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, 9.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions, five passes defended and five forced fumbles. The redshirt senior has been a valuable part of the Boise State defense since the 2022 season.
This decision comes at an odd time, as the Broncos are in the midst of spring practice. It is also a tough loss for the defense to lose a player of Simpson’s experience and productivity in late March. However, Boise State’s loss will be another program’s gain. Simpson committed to Boise State over offers from Oregon, Kansas, San Diego State and San Jose State, but considering that was four years ago it shouldn’t be relevant now.
While those relationships have likely dried up, look for Simpson to quickly make new ones as he will be a priority in the portal.
