With the 2025 NFL Draft upcoming this week on Thursday, fans are consuming all the latest updates about their favorite teams and this year's top prospects to decipher and predict what may happen.
Meanwhile, the players involved with the event are likely finalizing plans for the family, friends and loved ones to soak in what will be the culmination of their life's passion.
Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter is projected to be one of the draft's first players selected, and it's already been reported that the two-way star will be in Green Bay at the ceremony.
However, a last-minute addition is joining Hunter at the draft: his father, Travis Hunter Sr.
Per court documents sourced by Tom D'Angelo of the Palm Beach Post, Hunter is allowed to leave the state of Florida for a limited window of time.
"Travis Hunter Sr. was granted permission by the courts recently to travel to Green Bay for the NFL Draft," wrote D'Angelo. "Hunter Sr., who lives in Boynton Beach where his son was raised, is scheduled to leave West Palm Beach the day before the draft and ordered to return Friday, the day following the draft, according to court documents."
Last September, Hunter Sr. was sentenced to 90 days due to a 2023 arrest on drug and gun charges. He was eventually released from a local detention center just days before the Heisman Trophy ceremony, but was unable to attend due to being on probation.
Hunter spoke emotionally about his family and his upbringing when accepting the Heisman Trophy and many fans wondered why Colorado head coach Deion Sanders was featured so prominently in ESPN's coverage, instead of showing or giving much attention to Hunter's family, or lack thereof.
"I want to say something to my father," Travis Jr. said when accepting the Heisman. "He's not here and wasn't able to make it but I know you're watching on TV. Dad, I love you. For all the stuff you went through man … Now look at your oldest son. I did it for you, man.
"All the times that you didn't get to see me, or the times you did come to see my games. From not seeing probably two games in high school to seeing me on TV every weekend and coming to see me. That means so much to me. I know you wanted to be here and you can't, but trust me, I got you. I'm bringing the trophy home. I love you."
According to Athlon Sports ' NFL draft guru Luke Easterling, the Cleveland Browns are projected to select Hunter with the No. 2 overall pick.
