Travis Hunter is fresh off of another big year with the Colorado Buffaloes that ended with him winning the coveted Heisman Trophy.
With the 2025 NFL draft right around the corner, Hunter is one of the most talked about players in the nation. He is widely expected to end up being a top-three pick.
During the 2024 college football season, Hunter was once again an elite two-way star. He has excelled on both offense and defense and is hoping to bring that skill-set to the NFL.
He caught 96 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns as a wide receiver. Defensively, playing the cornerback position, Hunter racked up 35 tackles, a forced fumble, four interceptions, and 11 defended passes.
Recently, Hunter spoke out about former NFL superstar quarterback Cam Newton. He had a very powerful message to share.
During a segment on his podcast, "The Travis Hunter Show," Hunter revealed that he believes Newton should be an NFL Hall of Famer soon.
"Playing 7 on 7 was just super fun. No, you got to meet a lot of kids, a lot of different guys, and get coached by Cam Newton. So, like getting coached by an NFL vet and player, you know, and soon-to-be Hall of Famer, I hope so. You know, that was like, kind of like, like, super cool, super fun, you know, just out there having fun," Hunter said.
He also revealed something that he learned from that period of his football career.
"So, and he was able to compete, you know, you always had to compete, the competitive spirit, and you because you were always competing, you know, year-round. So that was great."
Hunter will find out where he will begin his NFL career on April 24 when the draft gets underway.
