Two redshirt freshmen poised to have big springs

The Alabama football team began spring practice on Monday of this week. The Crimson Tide will go through spring ball with several players injured and unable to participate in practice. With that being the case, it is crucial for some of the younger guys to step up and make a name for themselves.

Two of the players that I feel are poised to have big springs are a pair of a true freshmen — defensive lineman Jeremiah Beaman and tight end Jay Lindsey.

Beaman and Lindsey each played in three games during their freshman season. They both have the potential to be impactful players for the Crimson Tide in 2025.

Beaman has added 47 pounds since arriving on campus in 2024. He has shown signs of growth in the weight room as well as on the field. With James Smith being unable to fully participate in spring practices at this time, Beaman has a great opportunity to create value for himself.

Alabama has a lot of depth along the defensive line. Beaman is one of the key depth pieces on Alabama’s roster. He should see a major uptick in snaps played as a redshirt freshman in 2025.

Lindsey came to Alabama listed at 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds. Heading into spring practices, Lindsey is listed at 6-foot-5 and 258 pounds.

The former three-star has put in work during the offseason. With Alabama losing two tight ends (CJ Dippre and Robbie Ouzts) to the NFL and one (Ty Lockwood) to the transfer portal, Lindsey has a great opportunity in front of him. Not to mention, the projected starter Danny Lewis Jr. will miss spring practices due to an injury he suffered last season.

Lindsey had the makings of being an impactful tight end for the Crimson Tide. He will work hard to showcase that during the spring and leading up to the start of the 2025 season.
