Your UCLA Bruins lost one of their premier quarterback prospects to the transfer portal recently in true freshman Dante Moore, but they aren't hanging their heads. The Bruins are targeting quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who just entered the transfer portal from The University of Oklahoma.
UCLA has already contacted Gabriel and will now wait to see what his decision will be.
Gabriel started 12 games for the Sooners last season, posting 3,660 yards and throwing for 30 touchdowns. He was one of the better players in college football and would completely transform this UCLA offense.
He has one more year of eligibility left, and it would make sense for him to join head coach Chip Kelly next season. Gabriel has been one of the better quarterbacks in college football, even before his time with the Sooners.
He spent time at UCF and started as a true freshman in 2019. Gabriel threw for 3,653 yards and 29 touchdowns during that season and followed that up by throwing for 3,570 yards and 32 scores in 2020.
One of the Bruins issues last season was inconsistent quarterback play, and landing Gabriel would likely change that fact. He has been very consistent with his play over the years and would transform this UCLA team. With the team heading to the Big-10 next season, this would be a major addition to the team.
UCLA has come under fire latest for how they finished the season, and for defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn leaving for the rival USC Trojans. But this could completely change the narrative around the Bruins program for the better.
