UNLV draft drought ends in seventh round

For UNLV, the 15-year wait is finally over to say they have a player drafted to the NFL.

With the 238th pick in the 2025 Draft, the Seattle Seahawks selected UNLV wide receiver Ricky White III.

White has stood out as the best chance UNLV has had getting a draft pick in a long time. Since 2010, the Rebels have been shut out of the NFL Draft, largely due to the program’s struggles. With recent successes, however, the Rebels have finally been rewarded with watching one of their own be selected to play in the NFL.

What White can offer to the Seahawks

It is fair to be somewhat biased about White, largely due to him blossoming into a superstar here in Las Vegas, but he was also a seventh-round pick for a reason.

What White lacks in elite speed and burst, he makes up for by creating separation from defensive backs in other ways. He is one of the better route runners and possesses some of the best hands of any receiver in the class, both of which are relatively rare to get out of rookies out of the gate. Even better for White, he offers value as a special teamer with his return and blocking ability, raising his floor significantly as he continues to get better.

White has earned this honor, and he now gets the chance to prove that UNLV is turning into a legitimate development program for the NFL.
