Utah’s first year in the Big 12 did not go as planned, as the preseason favorites managed just a 2-7 record in league play and missed a bowl game.
Kyle Whittingham and company hope that some major renovations on the offensive side of the ball will result in more success this season, and there are already folks out there buying the Utes as a major bounce-back team in 2025.
Here’s a look at the schedule that Utah will have to navigate if they hope to make it happen.

If Utah is going to bounce back from their 5-7 campaign, they’ll need to be firing on all cylinders from the get-go, as they’ve drawn quite a difficult schedule overall.
The Week 1 trip to UCLA is tricky, and despite the rest of their nonconference slate being plenty manageable, the conference schedule is brutal. The first five games of Big 12 play are Texas Tech, at West Virginia, Arizona State, at BYU, Colorado, and there’s just one bye week in there.
The Gauntlet isn’t over after that, either, as Baylor, Kansas State, and Kansas (potentially on a short week) to finish out the year looks pretty tough. Utah’s roster should be plenty good enough to be in and win all of those games. However, they’ll need some things to go their way if they want to make the Big 12 title game.
