This season hasn't gone to plan in any sense for Utah this season, and this latest mind-blowing stat epitomizes the program's struggles this season as they now own the fifth-longest active losing streak in all of college football, a stat that is a first for Kyle Whittingham.
Utah's last win came on September 21st against Oklahoma State in what was then considered a potential Big 12 Championship game preview. However, both teams haven't won a game since then, with Oklahoma State currently on an eight-game losing streak and Utah on a seven-game losing streak.
Kent State currently owns the longest active losing streak at a whopping 20 games, and the Golden Flashes are followed by Purdue (10), Southern Miss (9), Oklahoma State (8), Utah (7), FAU (6), Nevada (5), North Texas (5), San Diego State (5), and ULM (5).
In a season that has been a stark contrast from the preseason expectations and predictions from fans and the media alike, even in a worst-case scenario, the way this season has panned out would've been considered a slim to none possibility and yet it's exactly what has transpired.
However, the program is deadset on making sure a season like this never happens again as the train has already started moving not only on the staffing front but also when it comes to building the roster, assuring that success can once again be sustained in the near and far future.
