Luke Fickell has made another addition to his Wisconsin football staff official.
The Badgers have hired Scott Power as the new Assistant Defensive Backs Coach, filling the role left vacant by Jack Cooper’s promotion to Safeties Coach—a move previously reported by BadgerNotes.
Power will work specifically with the nickelbacks in Madison, bringing a wealth of defensive experience to the Badgers.
Wisconsin football made the announcement on social media, welcoming him with a post that read: "Welcome to Madison, Coach Power."
Power arrives at Wisconsin after spending the 2024 season as the defensive coordinator at Western Michigan, where his unit was one of the most opportunistic in the MAC. The Broncos forced 21 turnovers, ranking third in the conference, while defensive back Tate Hallock picked off four passes on his way to earning second-team All-MAC honors.

Before his time at Western Michigan, Power spent two seasons at Louisiana Tech, where he helped the Bulldogs finish inside the top 25 nationally in turnovers gained in 2022.
He also played a key role in recruiting, helping land the top-ranked class in Conference USA in 2024 while coaching one All-American and seven All-Conference USA selections.
Power’s defensive pedigree extends beyond the FBS level, as he also spent three seasons as the defensive coordinator at Stephen F. Austin. Under his guidance, the Lumberjacks led the Western Athletic Conference in scoring defense, total defense, takeaways, sacks, and tackles for loss in 2021.
His coaching résumé also includes stops at Texas A&M Commerce, Central Washington, Marian, and Wartburg College. Now, he brings his defensive expertise to Wisconsin as Fickell continues to shape his staff heading into the 2025 season.
