20 animated series with iconic Black characters

What's not to love about Kenny West from The Cleveland Show? He was a fictionalized parody of Kanye West from 2009, so you can only imagine what sort of shenanigans he found himself in.

Tucker Foley was a truth-teller in Nickelodeon's Danny Phantom. Sometimes, he spoke too much, which landed him in a few sticky situations. Despite that, he always had Danny's back and used his expertise in technology to help the latter fight off ghosts.

AJ wasn't necessarily the "cool kid" on The Fairly OddParents; however, he was super rich and extremely smart, often winning first at the school science fair, which makes him a big deal in our eyes.

Maya is a no-nonsense and outspoken 14-year-old in Disney's spin-off of The Proud Family. She stands firm in her beliefs, fiercely defends others, reads her foes to filth, and is voiced by Keke Palmer. How could you not love her?

Libby Folfax from Jimmy Neutron was iconic from her first appearance in Season 1. However, discovering she was a descendant of an ancient Egyptian queen is what really did it for us.

Trudy Proud is the type of mom everyone would be lucky to have. She's caring and kind and only loses her cool when her husband doesn't listen.

Let's face it: Kim Possible is only cool because her technology guru, Wade, ensures that. He's the brains behind a lot of her cool gadgets, including the Kimmunicatior and her grappling hook blow dryer.

Monique (Raven-Symoné) was Kim Possible's female best friend. She was bold, confident, and the ultimate fashionista. On occasion, she was forced to join Kim on select missions when Ron was nowhere to be found.

Okay, so we know The Incredibles isn't technically a series; however, Frozone is too iconic of a character not to be listed here.

The Proud Family will always be an iconic animated series, and Penny Proud is at the forefront. She's taught us many lessons, like the importance of being yourself and being a good friend.

Susie is the polar opposite of Tommy's cousin Angelica. Instead of being mean, controlling, and bossy, she's kind, loving, and the best friend anybody could ask for.

There's nobody cooler than Gerald Johanssen in Hey Arnold! I mean, seriously. This kid was in the fourth grade and told mysterious and suspenseful stories about his neighborhood we couldn't get enough of. 

Although we don't love rooting for the bad guys, Valerie Gray from Danny Phantom is the one antagonist we can get behind. After all, she was hunting ghosts. 

Dijonay Jones was as extra as can be in The Proud Family, which made her character especially unique.

Trixie Carter is the definition of an "It Girl." She's sassy and lively and Jake Long's best friend in the series American Dragon Jake Long.

Suga Mama from The Proud Family is iconic for many reasons, but the biggest has to be her support for Penny when others were against her. There's just something about a grandma's love. 

Sasha from Bratz was passionate about fashion, but she was also exceptionally talented when it came to the performing arts. The girl could sing and dance, which always kept us entertained.

Sticky from The Proud Family reminds us of Roger from Sister, Sister, only in animated form. You can't live with them, and you can't live without them.

There's not one episode of The Proud Family where Oscar Proud didn't make us laugh. His ambitious personality, disgusting homemade snacks, and relationship with his family make his character so great.
