20 celebrities we'd like to see host 'Saturday Night Live'

For fans who have watched the ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary, they are already well aware that Janelle James's comedic timing as Ava Coleman is impeccable. Since the TV show debuted, James has been nominated for several prominent awards such as the Primetime Emmys, Screen Actors Guild, and the Golden Globes. 

With Zendaya being such a household name, it's honestly surprising the world hasn't seen her host SNL yet. Fans are used to seeing the actress work in action films like Spiderman: Far From Home or TV drama shows like Euphoria. If Zendaya were to take on the hosting role, it would give fans a chance to see her in more of a comedic light. 

Although Mark Wahlberg has made cameo appearances on SNL, the show has yet to ask him to be a host. Throughout Wahlberg's career, he's starred in comedic films like The Other Guys, Ted, Daddy's Home, and We Own The Night. 

Mindy Kaling has spoken before about how she once auditioned to be a cast member on SNL. However, the show wanted to bring her on as a writer instead. Although she didn't take the writing opportunity, Kaling continued starring in other shows such as The Office, and The Mindy Project, and films like The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

There's no doubt about it that Will Smith is one of the biggest actors to grace Hollywood. Although he's mostly known for his action films like Bad Boys, Independence Day, and I Am Legend, day-one fans know that Smith got his first taste of comedy roles by starring in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Smith can bring action, drama, and comedy to any screen or skit. 

Meryl Streep has quite the extensive resume that many Hollywood actors dream of. Not only has she starred in films like Julia and The Devil Wears Prada, but she's also won several Oscars, Golden Globes, and Emmy Awards. 

Throughout history, we've seen rappers have the acting bug, and some have been very successful across both careers. One rapper who is looking to take his acting to another level is Vince Staples. Throughout the years, he has taken on roles in Dope, Insecure, Abbott Elementary, and starring in his own Netflix comedy sitcom The Vince Staples Show. 

Jennifer Coolidge has been bringing the humor to Hollywood for a couple of decades. Whether fans recall her role in films like American Pie and Legally Blonde, or TV shows like 2 Broke Girls and The White Lotus, it should only be a matter of time before Coolidge gets to grace the SNL stage.  

Ken Jeong knows comedic timing, and he's proven it throughout the films and TV shows he's been in. Throughout his career, he's been seen in TV shows like Community and Fresh Off the Boat, as well as films like The Hangover and Crazy Rich Asians. 

Regina Hall has always been the type of actress who doesn't get enough credit for her comedy chops. However, real Hall fans know she's been a comedic gem since her role in the 2000 comedy film Scary Movie. Throughout the years, Hall has taken on roles in other films including Malibu's Most Wanted, Think Like A Man, The Best Man, Girls Trip, and Little. 

Unlike some of the actors on our list, Jeff Goldblum has previously hosted SNL, back in 1993 and 1997. So let's just say, it's long overdue for SNL to bring the actor back. Throughout his career, he's secured roles in Jurassic Park, Independence Day, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and Wicked. 

Although Sandra Bullock has slowed down on her acting roles in recent years, she's still known as one of the best to grace Hollywood. Throughout her career, she's starred in films such as Speed, Miss Congeniality, Two Weeks Notice, and Ocean's 8. 

In addition to starring in TV shows like Girlfriends and black-ish, Tracee Ellis Ross has always showcased her comedic chops by hosting award ceremonies like the BET Awards and the American Music Awards. Hosting SNL would be a great opportunity for someone like Ellis Ross, especially since she's mentioned people like Lucille Ball and Carol Burnett as two of her biggest inspirations. 

Fans are so used to seeing Tom Holland playing a superhero in the Spider-Man franchise, but it would be a nice treat to see the actor take on performing in skits. Hosting SNL would give Holland's fans a chance to see him playing different types of characters while adding some comedic chops. 

George Lopez knows all about bringing the funny to his audience. Whether he's starring in comedy sitcoms like Lopez vs Lopez, or taking on guest hosting roles for late-night talk shows, he's an actor and comedian who knows how to think quickly and improvise if needed. 

When Zac Efron was flying high during his High School Musical days in 2009, he took on the role of hosting SNL. Since it's been over a decade, it would be great to see how Efron has continued to elevate his acting prowess. 

Jamie Foxx is the epitome of a triple-threat performer: singer, actor, comedian—he does it all. Keep in mind, Foxx hosted SNL several years ago, but his talent is so massive that he can pull double-duty as host and musical guest. 

Although James Corden made a cameo appearance on SNL back in 2019, he's never gotten the chance to host the show. Let's also keep in mind that Corden knows how to keep an audience engaged, he's done it plenty of times while hosting award ceremonies such as the Tonys and the Grammys. 

Trevor Noah holds many titles including TV host, writer, producer, and comedian—making him an elite celebrity to take the SNL stage. Noah has the wit and comedic chops that would charm any audience. 

From starring in TV shows like Community, to hosting shows like The Soup and several award ceremonies, Joel McHale could easily be at the top of the list to host SNL.
