20 celebrities we'd like to see host 'Saturday Night Live'

Saturday Night Live (SNL) has been a pop culture staple for decades. It's a sketch-comedy show that helped launch the careers of actors and comedians such as Tina Fey, Bill Murray, Mike Myers, Maya Rudolph, Jimmy Fallon, Eddie Murphy, and more. 

In addition to unforgettable comedic skits and musical performances, SNL books different celebrity guest hosts each episode to help give the show a unique and fun flair every weekend. 

Here's a list of celebrities we'd love to see take the stage as a future SNL host.

For fans who have watched the ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary, they are already well aware that Janelle James's comedic timing as Ava Coleman is impeccable. Since the TV show debuted, James has been nominated for several prominent awards such as the Primetime Emmys, Screen Actors Guild, and the Golden Globes.

With Zendaya being such a household name, it's honestly surprising the world hasn't seen her host SNL yet. Fans are used to seeing the actress work in action films like Spiderman: Far From Home or TV drama shows like Euphoria. If Zendaya were to take on the hosting role, it would give fans a chance to see her in more of a comedic light.

Mindy Kaling has spoken before about how she once auditioned to be a cast member on SNL. However, the show wanted to bring her on as a writer instead. Although she didn't take the writing opportunity, Kaling continued starring in other shows such as The Office, and The Mindy Project, and films like The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

Although he's mostly known for his action films like Bad Boys, Independence Day, and I Am Legend, day-one fans know that Smith got his first taste of comedy roles by starring in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Smith can bring action, drama, and comedy to any screen or skit.

Unlike some of the actors on our list, Jeff Goldblum has previously hosted SNL, back in 1993 and 1997. So let's just say, it's long overdue for SNL to bring the actor back. Throughout his career, he's secured roles in Jurassic Park, Independence Day, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and Wicked.

Hosting SNL would be a great opportunity for someone like Ellis Ross, especially since she's mentioned people like Lucille Ball and Carol Burnett as two of her biggest inspirations.

Fans are so used to seeing Tom Holland playing a superhero in the Spider-Man franchise, but it would be a nice treat to see the actor take on performing in skits. Hosting SNL would give Holland's fans a chance to see him playing different types of characters while adding some comedic chops.
