Adrien Brody takes home second Best Actor Oscar

It was a two-man race all Oscar season. Would Adrien Brody complete the redemption arc by winning his second Best Actor? Or would Timothee Chalamet make history as the youngest Best Actor winner?  In the end, the Oscars aversion to honoring men under 30 won out, and Brody took home Best Actor for "The Brutalist."

That may make it sound like Brody was not a deserving winner, which would be an inaccurate takeaway. After winning for "The Pianist," Brody ended up swiftly finding himself in no-man's land, though it was to a degree of his own doing. He's done solid work, mostly in supporting roles, but got an opportunity with "The Brutalist" to re-emerge. He certainly seemed to appreciate the trajectory while giving his speech.

Brody still exemplified an assertiveness of his personal desires in giving his speech. He was the only person to dare call for the music to stop playing him off (to be fair, it worked). It was an emotional speech, probably the best of the "big" speeches of the night. We aren't asserting Chalamet would have won were he a year only and thus not under 30.

Both Brody and Chalamet have an interesting immediate future ahead of them. The latter is golden. He would have to squander an abundance of goodwill to end up where, well, where Brody was a few years ago. Adrien Brody is now a two-time Best Actor winner. He's in rarified air. Let's see what is next for him.
