Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz have a picture-perfect relationship, but Beckham's proposal didn't go exactly as planned.
The 22-year-old model—and eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham—explained to James Corden that he popped the question in the countryside of Bedford, New York, and filled a gazebo with peonies, Peltz's favorite flowers, and candles.
"I had the ring up there, it was hiding behind some flowers because we walked all the way up this huge hill," Beckham said. "It was this amazing view of this huge river up in Bedford, and I had the ring. I couldn't open up the wine, which was really embarrassing. After 10 minutes, I finally opened it. Poured her a glass, and then I got on my knees—and she didn't know what I was doing."
"I start telling her how much I love her, and it lasted like five minutes, and then I reached back," he continued. "I got the ring, and I opened it, and I was like, Will you marry me? Because I want to be with you for the rest of my life. You're my best friend. And she just started crying. I was like, 'Oh, no!' And then she didn't answer me for another five minutes. She just kept crying. I was like, 'Is it a yes? Is it a no?' It was a little bit nerve-wracking."
Spoiler alert: Peltz, 27, said yes.
The happy couple announced their engagement in July 2020 after having gone public with their relationship only seven months prior:
With Corden, Beckham shared that he has 84 tattoos—including new ink of Peltz's eyes on the back of his neck as well as a love letter the actress had written him. Watch the full segment below.
