The Godzilla x Kong sequel has a new director, and it now even has a release date as Warner Bros updated their slate to reveal that the film will land on March 26, 2027, as per Variety.
While there's little more to report than that, it is unsurprising that Warner Bros is staying in the MonsterVerse, a franchise which keeps raking in the big bucks for the studio.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire stomped into theaters in March, swiped up an $80 million opening weekend and left having made $567.6 million worldwide in ticket sales from its speculated $135 million budget.
Adam Wingard — who directed the last two MonsterVerse movies — won't be involved in the next chapter, but it is said that what comes next will continue the story left off in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
Wingard's first entry to the universe was Godzilla vs. Kong in 2021, which pitted the two Titans against one another before they came together again this year to face off once more.
Now there'll be another three-year wait before audiences return to the MonsterVerse, where "an assortment of other Titans" will be present, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
