Mega-famous celebrities who turned down reality TV

Brittany Snow (Pitch Perfect and John Tucker Must Die) was married to Tyler Stanaland from 2020 to 2023 when he was filming the Netflix series Selling The OC. Despite their union, Brittany wanted no part in the on-screen shenanigans. Tyler revealed he "wanted to keep certain parts" of his life "private." 

Jennie Garth spent years on Beverly Hills 90210 , but that doesn't mean she wants to hang with Kyle Richards and her crew on RHOBH. During an interview on the Behind The Velvet Rope podcast, she told the host she had zero interest in joining the Real Housewives series.

Tisha Campbell is used to filming on set; however, living life in front of The Real Housewives cameras isn't her top priority at the moment. “I’m not as bold to share like that,” the Martin actress told Us Weekly. “You have to be bold.”

LisaRaye McCoy is known for keeping it real, so when asked why she told Andy Cohen and Bravo to kick rocks, she didn't hold back. "That’s not my brand. That’s not what I want to do. I’m not interested in that at all," she said.

This American Idol judge told Entertainment Tonight that she was "humbled" the producers of The Real Housewives asked her to join the iconic franchise. "I got a kick out of it that I was ever even asked. However, I like to be the one on the couch with the popcorn, watching with my dogs," she said.

Danielle Jonas turned down The Real Housewives of New Jersey because she thought they'd "kill me." Well, with that mindset... they certainly wouldn't go easy on her. 

Although Rachel Lindsay has been on reality TV before, she said no to Andy Cohen, Bravo, and the Real Housewives franchise when asked if she'd consider joining. "I could never be a part of it, but I love confrontation," she said on a podcast. "If I could step outside of my body and be a part of a franchise, I totally would. But I can’t do it, though."

Vanessa Bryant was asked to do reality television on several occasions when she was married to the NBA legend Kobe Bryant. In an earlier interview, the real-life basketball wife said no to joining Shaunie O'Neal and VH1 when they launched the popular series Basketball Wives in the early 2000s. "I really enjoy my privacy, and I love being my goofy and sarcastic self with family and friends. I certainly don’t want to enable people to think they have a significant opinion on what goes on in my life," she said.

If Tamar Braxton had joined The Real Housewives of Atlanta, she wouldn't have been the first Grammy-nominated singer to hold one of those coveted peaches. However, arguing with "a bunch of b—ches about nothing" isn't her cup of tea.

Even though he's filmed unscripted TV before, NFL legend Travis Kelce told Bussin' With The Boys that he turned down a Netflix offer for Receiver because he's "way over the reality sh-t."

Some Martha Stewart fans hoped she would appear on ABC's The Golden Bachelor. However, according to the businesswoman, she's too busy to spend her time dating on reality TV. "I’m very busy. I have my beautiful cooking, entertaining, and gardening shows, which I’m very interested in, so I don’t think I would do a reality dating show," she told Variety.

If you were hoping to see the original Mystique from X-Men holding a diamond on RHOBH, you'd better think again. During an earlier Watch What Happens Live appearance, she told Andy Cohen that she would not make a great Housewife.

Chrissy has been involved in a lot of the drama that occurs off-screen between stars of The Real Housewives, but when it comes to joining them, she thinks she'd be wildly out of place. "I don't like fighting," she said. "I really don't. I would cry a lot."

Let's face it. Having a royal on The Real Housewives would be epic, but during her conversation with Andy Cohen on her podcast, Archetypes, she told the WWHL host that joining the Bravo family isn't in the cards for her. "There will be no reality show, but I think it's so fun," she said.

Although Christina Applegate is used to drama on her Netflix series Dead To Me, she wasn't ready for the explosive fights that come with being on Housewives. “I wouldn’t have shown up to any dinners, I would’ve been in my sweatpants, and I’d be laying in bed," she said on a podcast. “What fun is that? No, none of that. No. I would be the worst housewife anyway.”

Julia Fox has spoken about her love for Bravo shows on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen; however, she told the executive producer that appearing on The Real Housewives of New York City wasn't her version of fun.

Jana Kramer from One Tree Hill entertained the idea of filming The Real Housewives, but the actress revealed she and her husband might be too boring for the popular reality series. “I’d be so afraid we’d be just be eaten alive, spit out, and then canceled the next day," she said. 

When Jordan Rodgers appeared on The Bachelorette, he told the cameras that his brother, NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers, had been estranged from their family for over two years. During the hometown date, the season's star, JoJo Fletcher, acknowledged his absence, saying the family wished he had shown up. 

This Is Us star Justin Hartley was married to Selling Sunset's biggest villain, Chrishell Stause, but he never appeared on the reality show due to contract negotiations with NBC. However, the pair divorced before the start of Season 3, so his absence could've stemmed from interpersonal drama.
