Netflix's 'Heartstopper' series will conclude with a feature film

On the third anniversary of the launch of season one, Netflix has announced the exciting news that Nick and Charlie's love story will wrap up properly with a Heartstopper feature film! It will be based on Alice Oseman's sixth and final graphic novel, which has not yet been released.

Nick and Charlie are inseparable, but with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them. Doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet. Meanwhile, their friends are also navigating the ups and downs of love and friendship, confronting the bittersweet challenges of growing up and moving on. Can first loves really last forever?

Wash Westmoreland will serve as director, with Kit Connor and Joe Locke as executive producers in addition to reprising their beloved roles. Other executive producers include Patrick Walters, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Oseman, and Euros Lyn, with See-Saw Films as the production company.

While the official cast list, besides the two leads, has not been shared, the movie will conclude the story of Nick, Charlie, and their friends. Production is set to begin in summer 2025.

"I am completely overjoyed that we will get to tell the end of the Heartstopper story," Oseman said in a statement. "I’m so grateful to everyone who has worked hard to make this possible and to the incredible fans of Heartstopper for your patience and passion. I cannot wait to bring this story to a magical conclusion."

The creator and writer also took to social media to write, "We are making a feature film to conclude the Heartstopper screen adaptation, based on Heartstopper Volume 6 and the ‘Nick and Charlie’ novella. We are getting to tell the end of the story!!! I’m deeply relieved and so excited about this new creative venture. I’ve written the script and we’re hard at work already. I know you’ll have a lot of questions, and I’ll be able to talk about it more very soon, but for now let’s CELEBRATE! Heartstopper is getting its ending!!!!!!"

On Instagram, Locke jokingly commented on Netflix's post, "I fancy a movie."

All three seasons of Heartstopper are currently streaming on Netflix.
