There are suave private eyes, and then there is Jim Rockford. He doesn’t live in a mansion estate in Hawaii like Thomas Magnum. He lives in a mobile home by the beach in Los Angeles. Rockford takes as many punches as he gives and is usually getting hassled by the police, and that includes his friend Dennis Becker. It feels like half the time he gets stiffed on his payment or ends up owing more than he makes. Fortunately, it’s much less frustrating to watch “The Rockford Files” than the experiences are for Jim.
