Mike Flanagan is working on a reboot for The Exorcist, and it already has a release date, The Hollywood Reporter reveals.

Universal Pictures has announced that the film will hit theaters on March 13, 2026.

The news that this "radical new take" on the classic is in the works at Blumhouse and Morgan's Creek was revealed just a few weeks ago, with Jason Blum saying that he "can't wait for audiences to experience it."

In his statement with the announcement, Flanagan said, "The Exorcist is one of the reasons I became a filmmaker", and while there are no additional details on the project just yet, there's a buzz around what we might get from Flanagan.

Flanagan is well-versed in horror, with his previous works including The Haunting of Hill House, Ouija: Origin of Evil and The Fall of the House of Usher, and he is set to release his adaptation of Stephen King's The Life of Chuck, starring Tom Hiddleston later this year.

However, there's a long way to go before we get further updates on his The Exorcist reboot, but a release date is a good start.
