Amazon Prime Video’s original content library is already impressive and continuously on the rise. It’s second only to Netflix in the number of originals produced. This collection includes a little something for everyone, from adult animated series like “Invincible” to young adult shows like “The Summer I Turned Pretty” to romantic comedy films like “The Idea of You.” There’s family programming and reality shows and Emmy- and Oscar-winning shows and movies. Plus, it has a vast and ever-changing library of licensed shows and movies included with the subscription, and a nearly infinite number of options available for purchase. 

The thing about Amazon Prime Video’s originals, though, is that they tend to not be as culturally important as Netflix’s. Amazon Prime Video has not yet had a show that everyone talks about, like its competitor’s “Stranger Things,” “Bridgerton” and “Squid Game” — and it’s tried, with massive shows like “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.” This is not to say that Prime Video does not make high-quality hit shows; it absolutely does. But if you like to watch what everyone else is watching in order to participate in water cooler conversations, you may find Prime Video a little lacking.

On the other hand, Amazon Prime Video has some of the most talked-about sports and has committed to live sports in a way Netflix has not. Again this season, Amazon Prime Video will host the NFL’s “Thursday Night Football.” For football fans, this alone is reason enough to sign up for Amazon Prime Video. But the service also has Premier League soccer games, MLB baseball games, WNBA basketball games and much more. Amazon Prime Video has heavily invested in sports and is looking to grow even more in this department (Amazon is currently competing for NBA rights).

How to subscribe to Amazon Prime Video

In order to subscribe to Amazon Prime Video, you must sign in with an already existing Amazon account. If you don’t already have an Amazon account, you can sign up for a free trial before committing to a monthly or annual subscription. Once you’ve created your Amazon account and signed in, you can head to the Amazon Prime Video tab on the website or sign into the Prime Video app to start watching. 

How to cancel my Amazon Prime Video subs cription

The process for canceling your Amazon Prime Video subscription slightly varies depending on if you have a full Amazon Prime account or just a Prime Video subscription.
