DIRECTV STREAM: a complete sports solution with NHL Network

DIRECTV Stream logo
  • Pricing begins at $86.99/mo
  • 90+ live TV channels
  • Free trial available

DIRECTV STREAM is a great option for sports fans, including hockey viewers. While NHL Network is only included with the Ultimate or Premier packages, you can also add it to your Entertainment or Choice package if you get the DIRECTV Sports Pack. Another benefit of DIRECTV STREAM is its relationship with regional sports networks (RSNs), which is hard to come by with livestreaming platforms.

If you choose DIRECTV STREAM, you’ll also have access to ESPN, ESPN2, Fox Sports 1 (FS1), Fox Sports 2 (FS2), Golf Channel, NFL Network and many more. DIRECTV STREAM also carries a variety of news and entertainment channels, so there’s plenty to watch when the NHL is out of season. You’ll get unlimited DVR space and unlimited streams within your household network.

Sling TV: affordable access to NHL Network

  • Pricing begins at $45.99/mo.
  • 35+ live TV channels
  • Free trial currently unavailable

You can get NHL Network with Sling TV if you have the Sling Orange or Sling Orange & Blue plan and get the Sports Extra add-on. Despite needing an extra to access the channel, Sling TV is still more affordable than competitors. In addition to NHL Network, Sling Orange features ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN3 in its lineup. If you want football content, Sling Blue has NFL Network and FS1. For many sports fans, it’s worth combining the plans to get all available channels with the Sling Orange & Blue Plan.

Unfortunately, Sling TV doesn’t offer local channels in all markets. However, in many cities you can get ABCFox, and/or NBC. You’ll get 50 hours of DVR space by default, but you can upgrade to 200 hours with a paid extra. The Sling Orange & Blue plan has four simultaneous streams, while Sling Orange only lets you stream on one screen at a time.

Fubo: live sports-focused service with NHL Network

  • Pricing begins at $84.99/mo.

Fubo started out as a sports dedicated platform, and it still provides a wealth of sports content along with its news and entertainment channels. To get the NHL Network, you’ll need to sign up for the Elite plan. Alternatively, you can watch NHL Network with other plans if you pay the monthly cost for an add-on package. The add-ons that include NHL Network include Fubo Extra, Sports Plus with NFL RedZone and Sports Lite.

Beyond NHL content, Fubo delivers ESPN, ESPN2, FS1, FS2, NBA TV, NFL Network, Golf Channel, Fubo Sports and more. Fubo offers unlimited Cloud DVR storage, and you can stream on up to 10 devices at once within your home network.
