The Padres came out of the gate hot with a 9-3 record over their last 12 games. But recent injuries to key players threaten their momentum and potential World Series hopes. Jackson Merrill, who was just signed to a 9-year deal with the Padres last Wednesday, was placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained right hamstring.
The team is optimistic about his injury and are anticipating that his lockdown shouldn't last longer than the minimum 10 days. But only time will tell how big of an impact this will have on the Padres as we journey further into the 2025 season. For the faithful, here's how to watch all the Padres' action this season.
The Padres have an exclusive direct-to-consumer app called Padres.TV. It’s unfortunately not available with most streaming apps; however, the games that are available on Padres.TV can also be viewed on Fubo. Nationally, the team is broadcast on MLB Network, Fox, ESPN, ESPN Plus and Apple TV+.

DIRECTV STREAM offers Padres games airing on Fox, ESPN, MLB Network, and local coverage on channel 694, with broader access through the Choice, Ultimate or Premier packages; out-of-market fans will need an additional service to catch all MLB games. Sports fans can also enjoy NFL Network, NBA TV, MotorTrend, CBS Sports Network, FS1, FS2, and unlimited DVR storage across all plans.
Fubo has a stronger sports focus than most competitors, airing local Padres games via Padres.TV and offering a range of plans—like the Essential, Pro and Elite plans—to suit different budgets. Depending on your plan or add-ons like Sports Lite, you can access channels such as NFL Network, ESPNEWS, Big Ten Network, NHL Network, NBA TV, and more—with unlimited Cloud DVR included.
Hulu + Live TV is the only live streaming service that includes ESPN Plus for select Padres games, and it recently added MLB Network to its main channel lineup, along with local networks like Fox and ESPN. While it lacks regional sports networks, subscribers still get channels like FS1, NFL Network, TNT, TBS, and SEC Network, plus access to Hulu’s on-demand library and unlimited DVR storage.
Sling TV lets you watch the San Diego Padres on ESPN and MLB Network (with a Sports Extra add-on) and offers channels like Fox (in select markets), TBS, and FS1 through its Sling Orange & Blue package. The Sports Extra add-on also includes NBA TV, NHL Network, NFL RedZone, and the Golf Channel, with all plans offering 50 hours of DVR (or 200 with DVR Extra).
YouTube TV no longer carries MLB Network but still airs Padres games on ESPN and Fox and offers features like Key Plays and Stats views if you choose it as your cable alternative. Sports fans also get channels like NFL Network, SEC Network, the Tennis Channel, and access to the NFL Sunday Ticket, with unlimited DVR storage included.
Apple TV+ will air two exclusive MLB games during “Friday Night Baseball” this season, including a June matchup between the Padres and Red Sox, with a free trial available for new customers. The app works on Apple devices as well as Amazon Fire TV, smart TVs from Samsung and LG, Roku, PlayStation, Xbox, and Chromecast with Google TV.

For fans who live outside San Diego County, you can use MLB TV to watch out-of-market Padres games. If you live in or near San Diego, you can get a team pass, which provides all Padres games for in-market fans. You can sign up for MLB TV on the MLB TV website or add it as a channel to your Amazon Prime Video account.
MLB.TV is the primary streaming platform for San Diego Padres games. But other streaming services such as DIRECTV STREAM, Fubo, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, YouTube TV, and Apple TV+, will include channels in their packages that will grant you access to Padres games.
MLB TV periodically offers free trial periods for new customers and you may be able to watch some nationally broadcast games on some apps like the ESPN app and the Fox Sports App for free, but those often require a cable provider login to actually watch. Otherwise, watching Padres games for free is generally not an option. You will likely need to subscribe to a service that requires a paid subscription to watch the majority of games.
The primary apps for watching Padres games include the MLB app, ESPN app, and Fox Sports app. But streaming apps such as Hulu, Fubo, Sling, YouTube TV, and Apple TV can give you access to channels and networks that broadcast Padres games, depending on what's included in your package and service.
With the shutting down of Bally Sports San Diego and MLB.TV holding exclusive streaming rights for regional sports networks, Padres games are not available via YouTube TV. The only exception to this if the game is nationally televised on a channel carried by YouTube TV (ESPN, FOX, FS1, or TBS). Otherwise it is not available.
