Are you looking for a good streaming deal to fit within a student's budget? The Hulu student deal is the perfect way to save money on entertainment. Below, we’re covering everything you need to know before, during and after signing up for this special discount, just for college students.

How much does Hulu cost for students?

Hulu’s student discount gives you 75 percent off of the normal price for the Hulu (With Ads) plan. That brings the price down from $9.99 per month to just $1.99 per month.

Who qualifies for the student discount?

Anyone who is currently enrolled in a Title IV accredited college or university can get the student discount. Hulu is partnered with SheerID to verify enrollment status. When you sign up for your subscription, you’ll be redirected to SheerID where you’ll enter information to be verified. After that quick process, you’ll be sent back to Hulu to enter your billing information and finish signing up.

What does the plan include?

The Hulu (With Ads) plan gives subscribers access to Hulu’s on-demand content library. In the library, you’ll find past seasons of both classic and newer television shows, episodes from current seasons and a long list of movie titles. Hulu is the streaming home of FX shows, so you can stay up to date with American Horror Story, The Bear and Justified. The library also includes Hulu Originals that you won’t find anywhere else, like The Handmaid’s Tale, The Dropout and Normal People.

What isn’t included in the plan?

The student discount only applies to the Hulu (With Ads) plan, so you won’t be able to watch content without ads. You also won’t have access to live TV, including live sports.

Can you upgrade to a different plan?

Once you’ve signed up for a Hulu subscription, it’s easy to upgrade or downgrade your plan based on what you want to watch and what your budget looks like for the month. However, the student discount will not apply if you choose to upgrade from the basic Hulu (With Ads) plan.

Here are all the options for Hulu plans.

Basic Hulu plans

  • Hulu (With Ads) for $9.99 per month gives you access to the Hulu ad-supported streaming library. Students can sign up for just $1.99 per month.
  • Hulu (No Ads) for $18.99 per month gives you access to the same content, without ad breaks on most shows and movies. Some content will still have ads before and after the video.

Live TV plans

  • Hulu (With Ads) + Live TV, Disney Plus (With Ads) and ESPN Plus (With Ads) for $82.99 per month.
  • Hulu (No Ads) + Live TV, Disney Plus (No Ads) and ESPN Plus (With Ads) for $95.99 per month.
  • Live TV Only for $81.99 per month. (No access to Disney Plus or ESPN Plus.)
