'A Lot' Of Trades Could Be Coming In First Round Of NFL Draft

In what many perceive to be a weak NFL Draft, this year's event could see a lot of movement in the first round — according to one of the league's top analysts.

After reports surfaced from ESPN's Peter Schrager that the Browns and Giants are open to trading out of the No. 2 and No. 3 picks, respectively, one of the insider's new colleagues said he's received word that the phones could be ringing off the hook on Thursday with team's looking to swap positions.

Earlier in the day, the network shared that while the Tennessee Titans aren't entertaining any offers for their first overall pick (at least for now), the same can't be said for New York or Cleveland.

... sources told Schrager that the Browns, who have the second pick, and the Giants, who pick third, have received trade calls over the past 48 hours -- and that neither team is outwardly rejecting those overtures.

The expectation, sources told Schrager, is that those teams looking to trade up to the No. 2 or No. 3 pick are pursuing Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter, Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter or Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty.

Now per NFL Draft analyst and insider Matt Miller, it sounds like other franchises could be just as active on Day 1.

"Trading texts this morning... I think we're going to see the trade talks heat up soon!" Miller relayed on X. "One person I talked to thinks there will be a lot of action in Round 1."

It'll be interesting to see if that holds true once the draft goes live on Thursday night. After the first pick, it really feels like anything could happen; and with so many teams with such specific needs, it's possible a lot of teams could be eyeing players they'll need to shift around to get to.
