Arkansas threatening to sue Madden Iamaleava

The Arkansas Razorbacks are threatening legal action against Madden Iamaleava over his NIL deal with the school.

Iamaleava enrolled at Arkansas in January but just left the program during the spring transfer window after spending only four months with the Razorbacks. Madden, who is an incoming freshman quarterback, is transferring to UCLA along with his older brother Nico, who is also a quarterback.

On Tuesday, Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek posted a statement on X in which he made clear the school’s NIL collective — Arkansas Edge — would try to recoup any funds paid to the young quarterback.

“I have spoken with the leadership team at Arkansas Edge and expressed my support in their pursuit to enforce their rights under any agreement violated by our student-athletes moving forward. We appreciate Edge’s investment in our student-athletes and acknowledge the enforcement of these agreements is vital in our new world of college athletics. We look forward to continued dialogue with all parties in resolving these matters,” Yurachek wrote.

Tennessee could look to pursue similar action against Nico. Interestingly, after the Vols lost Nico to UCLA, Tennessee picked up a very fitting replacement player.
