The LSU Tigers Baseball team began the season ranked second in almost every major poll, but found themselves ranked seventh after a series loss to Texas. Now, though, they find themselves back towards the top of the rankings.
D1 Baseball released their newest poll on Monday morning, and the Tigers jumped from No. 7 to No. 3 after sweeping then-10th ranked Oklahoma on the road this past weekend.
Here's the new D1 Baseball top-10 and their previous ranking:
As you can see, there was a ton of movement in the top-10. Not a single team maintained their ranking from last week and teams like Tennessee, Georgia and FSU took major hits.
One of the biggest risers this weekend was LSU. They traveled to Norman, Oklahoma and dominated the Sooners. Not only did they sweep them, their pitching staff didn't give up a single earned run the entire weekend. All four of OU's runs were unearned. It was one of the most dominant pitching efforts I've seen, and it was highlighted by Kade Anderson's complete game shutout.
LSU will travel to Nicholls this Tuesday before hitting the road for their second-straight road series versus the Auburn Tigers. Since their series loss to Texas, the Tigers are 7-0 and are trending in the right direction. We'll see if they can keep their hot streak alive this week, and if they can, they could find themselves back in the top-two in next week's rankings.
