These two played a blast of a game in mid-January with Maryland getting by 69-66 at home. It was a close, tough back-and-forth fight that that should be just as nasty.

The Huskers are on a terrific four-game winning streak after doing on a hard-luck six-game losing run. They’re back in the NCAA Tournament picture, and with winnable road games coming up against Northwestern and Penn State, this is a chance to all but lock in a spot.

Maryland has won five of its last six starting with that win over the Huskers. With three straight home games to follow, there’s a chance to go on a big run with a win in Lincoln.

Why Maryland Will Win

No one in the Big Ten has more firepower. The Terps lead the league in scoring margin, they can score inside and out, and when they’re on from three, forget it.

They made ten threes, and they’ll have to keep firing in this, and as long as they’re okay on the boards they should pull it off.

The Huskers don’t do much consistently on the offensive boards, and they aren’t sharp enough from three to pull this off if Maryland is moving the ball around and connecting. But …

Why Nebraska Will Win

Nebraska was RIGHT THERE in the first meeting, but it couldn’t hit enough from the free throw line.

It matched Maryland shot for shot, and rebound for rebound. It just didn’t come out the right way. Now, the team has found its offensive groove. It’s making everything inside and out, the rebounding hasn’t been bad, and even when the threes aren’t dropping, the versatility is there to adjust on the fly.

Nebraska can score, it’s great on the defensive glass, and overall the defense is good enough go pull this off. It’s 12-0 when holding teams under 42% from the field and 15-1 when allowing teams to hit 44% or fewer.

Maryland made 45% from the floor in the first meeting and has only been under 44% four times this season. It’ll find ways to get inside enough to keep on scoring to answer the Nebraska surges.
