Michigan Football Lands Impressive New Recruit
Junfu Han / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Michigan Wolverines continue to build their 2025 recruiting class, flipping four-star defensive back Elijah Dotson from Pittsburgh. The Belleville High School standout, ranked as the state's No. 2 prospect behind only his teammate Bryce Underwood, brings versatility to Ann Arbor.

At 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, Dotson projects as a safety for the Wolverines. His athletic credentials are stellar - he's a four-time AAU Junior Olympian in track and three-time All-State hurdler, posting times of 14.47 in the 100-meter hurdles and 39.05 in the 300-meter hurdles. 247Sports national recruiting analyst Alan Trieu noted:

" [He] has played a little of everything from safety, corner, receiver, return man and some wildcat quarterback in high school... Has above average size and plays physically. Will put his face in the action in run support and will get his hands on receivers if playing man to man."

Dotson joins Michigan's impressive 2025 defensive backfield, which already includes top-250 prospects Kainoa Winston, Shamari Earls, and Jayden Sanders. According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Dotson ranks as the No. 14 safety and No. 191 overall prospect nationally.

The addition brings Michigan's 2025 class to 19 commitments, ranking 14th nationally. With Dotson's physicality and versatility, the Wolverines continue to stockpile talent in their defensive backfield.
