Lee Corso will make his final College GameDay appearance on August 30 to kick off the 2025 college football season.
Corso will retire after making that appearance on College GameDay. The destination for College GameDay will be announced later in the spring.
He will turn 90 in August and has been on College GameDay since it debuted in 1987. He is super thankful for everyone's support along the way.
“My family and I will be forever indebted for the opportunity to be part of ESPN and College GameDay for nearly 40 years, Corso said in a statement, via ESPN. “I have a treasure of many friends, fond memories, and some unusual experiences to take with me into retirement.”
After the news came out, Michigan's Twitter/X account for football released a nice statement, thanking Corso for everything he did for the sport.
"Happy retirement, Lee Corso. It's been great having you at so many of our games throughout the years!" the tweet read.
Corso is known for making the headgear pick during every College GameDay broadcast and has made 430 headgear picks. Michigan fans won't like to hear that Ohio State's headgear has been picked the most out of any school (45 times).
He has still picked Michigan quite a bit since the show has gone to Ann Arbor a lot over the years.
Still, maybe he'll pick Ohio State for the 46th time if GameDay goes to Columbus for the Ohio State-Texas game on August 30. It's arguably the best game of the weekend and will be a rematch of last season's Cotton Bowl in the College Football Playoff.
College GameDay and college football in general won't be the same without Corso giving his analysis.
