NFL Draft Profile: LSU OT Will Campbell

Will Campbell is viewed by many as the top offensive tackle in the 2025 NFL Draft. He's currently projected as a top-10 pick, and some think he could even go top-5.

Today, we're going to break down Campbell's game and see why he's so highly thought of.

Height: 6-foot-6

Weight: 319-pounds

Arms: 33-inches

Will Campbell was a three-year starter for the LSU Tigers. He was thrown into the fire as a true freshman and held his own against some of the best pass rushers in the country. In 2022, Campbell surrendered just 14 pressures and two sacks as a freshman starter.

In his second year, Campbell was even better. He wasn't credited with a single sack allowed and gave up 17 pressures while going up against guys like Dallas Turner, Jared Verse and Darius Robinson, who were all first-round picks in 2024.

Heading into his senior season, Campbell had high expectations. He was labeled as the best tackle in his class, and while he had some struggles, he was still very good, giving up two sacks and 18 pressures in 558 pass blocking snaps.

In his three seasons as a starter, Campbell posted pass blocking grades of 77.2 (2022), 77.9 (2023) and 80.6 (2024). His strength has always been pass protection, but he's also a very solid run blocker. Campbell's lowest run blocking grade came in 2024 when he earned a 69.7, which is right below average on PFF's scale.

Campbell comes into the NFL as one of the more experienced tackles in this class. Despite declaring after his junior season, Campbell has over 2,500 snaps of experience and has done it in the toughest conference in all of football.

There's some worry about his arm length. Some teams view him as a guard instead of a tackle, but it's hard to justify spending a top-10 pick on a guard. If he goes as early as everyone expects, he'll likely stay at tackle.

Here's what NFL's Lance Zierlein had to say about Campbell:

Athletic left tackle prospect who's durable and battle-tested but has elements of high risk, high reward in his game. Campbell is a thumping run blocker who can clear out B-gaps with forceful down blocks and displace base blocks with his “strike and run” technique. He struggles to win laterally, though. He will lunge and miss against stunts and movement. Campbell operates with good athleticism and agility in pass protection but is way too leaky against inside moves. He has a jarring, heavy punch and can latch in to control the rep. However, he has short arms and when he’s beaten to first action, the footwork and technique go out the window, forcing him to scramble and survive to save the pocket. His play is determined, spirited and aggressive, which works in his favor, but Campbell must learn to vary his pass-set technique and operate with optimal hand timing in order to thrive at tackle instead of being moved to guard.

With under a week until the draft, Campbell is expected to be a top-10 pick and has often been mocked to the New England Patriots at pick four. If he's selected in the top-5, LSU will have produced a top-5 pick in five of the last six seasons, with the only omission coming in 2023.
