The moment the Chicago Bears realized the first-overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft would be theirs to make, taking quarterback Caleb Williams became an unofficial guarantee.
As long as the New York Giants hold onto the No. 1 pick, the offseason will once again be headlined by an open secret.
The Giants will likely be picking between Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Miami’s Cam Ward to be the next franchise quarterback.
Sanders is the favorite, and if the New York faithful needed any more confirmation, they might look to the quarterback’s feet.
In a conversation with a teammate ahead of Saturday’s Alamo Bowl, Sanders hinted at his NFL future.
“We know where we going,” Sanders said. “You’ll see them in the cleats later on this week.”

On Saturday, the cleats at his locker were red and blue – the biggest indication yet that he’ll be headed to the Big Apple.
He’ll take the field at 7:30 p.m. (ET) to take on the BYU Cougars in the final collegiate game of his career. It’s worth noting that top prospects often opt out of bowl games, especially when a national championship isn’t on the line. Both Sanders and Ward will play in their respective bowl games, one final audition before the off-field pre-draft circuit.
Between general manager Joe Schoen and assistant general manager Brandon Brown visiting Colorado, his comfort in the spotlight, and his award-worthy year, landing with the Giants seems increasingly likely.
Of course, New York will have to hold up its end of the bargain. To guarantee Sanders’ availability, it will have to lose out against the Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles.
Fans can watch Sanders bid farewell to the college game on ABC.
