Sri Lanka have announced a revamped 17-player squad for their upcoming ODI tri-nation series against India and South Africa, starting April 27 in Colombo. After a disappointing 2-0 series loss in New Zealand, the team has made six changes as they gear up for crucial game time ahead of the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.

Uncapped left-arm spinner Malki Madara, who made headlines with a three-wicket haul on her T20I debut in New Zealand last month, has earned her first ODI call-up. She joins a packed spin department featuring the experienced Inoka Ranaweera and Sugandika Kumari, along with Kavisha Dilhari, Inoshi Priyadharshani, and promising 19-year-old allrounder Dewmi Vihanga.

Also in the running for a debut is 18-year-old seam-bowling allrounder Rashmika Sewwandi, who was part of Sri Lanka’s squad at the Under-19 World Cup earlier this year. With just two seamers included—Sewwandi and Achini Kulasuriya—the spin attack is clearly expected to play a major role.

Several familiar names return to the fold, including Hasini Perera, Hansima Karunaratne, and Nilakshi Silva. Panadura CC captain Piumi Badalge and teenager Manudi Nanayakkara, who impressed with a quick-fire 35 in New Zealand, also feature.

Making way are Imesha Dulani, Sachini Nisansala, Kaushini Nuthyangana, Chethana Vimukthi, and the injured Udeshika Prabodhani.

Skipper Chamari Athapaththu leads a largely unchanged batting core featuring Vishmi Gunaratne, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Dilhari, and Anushka Sanjeewani.

With the tri-series offering a chance to build momentum and test combinations before next year’s World Cup in India, Sri Lanka will be looking to strike the right balance of youth and experience. The tournament kicks off on April 27, when they take on India in the opening fixture at home.

Sri Lanka squad: Chamari Athapaththu (capt), Harshitha Samarawickrama, Vishmi Gunaratne, Nilakshika Silva, Kavisha Dilhari, Anushka Sanjeewani (wk), Manudi Nanayakkara, Hasini Perera, Achini Kulasuriya, Piumi Badalge, Dewmi Vihanga, Hansima Karunaratne, Malki Madara, Inoshi Priyadharshani, Sugandika Kumari, Rashmika Sewwandi, Inoka Ranaweera.
